Doucet McBride proudly supports several of Ottawa’s community, charitable, legal and professional organizations.

CIBC Run for the Cure
Doucet McBride participates in the annual CIBC Run for the Cure, Canada's largest single-day, volunteer-led fundraising event dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer research, and education and awareness programs.
Ottawa Food Bank
We support The Ottawa Food Bank, which helps more than 135 local agencies feed the hungry.
Canadian Blood Services
Doucet McBride lawyers and staff members regularly participate in blood donor clinics organized by Canadian Blood Services.
Canadian Paraplegic Association
Burn Tucker, our Personal Injury Group, was the first Ottawa law firm to sponsor the Canadian Paraplegic Association (CPA) Ontario’s Peer Support Program. The Peer Support Program helps people affected by spinal cord injury by complementing the professional services provided in acute-care hospitals, rehabilitation centres and community-based health and social service agencies. Peer Support volunteers provide one-to-one support to persons who have sustained an injury and to their families. We are privileged to support the wonderful work of these dedicated volunteers.
We welcome every opportunity to support CPA Ontario in its other activities, including sponsoring its annual Champagne Charity Auction and sponsoring and participating in local Wheelchair Relay Challenges.
Helmets on Kids Program
Because of the personal injury work we do, we understand the importance of safety and injury prevention.
Each year, on behalf of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, we help raise funds to purchase bicycle helmets for local elementary school children who might not otherwise have a helmet. We are proud to work on this project with the Brain Injury Association of the Ottawa Valley, ThinkFirst, Plan-it Safe Child and Youth Injury Prevention Centre, Ottawa Public Health, Citizens for Safe Cycling, Safe Communities Ottawa, and the Ottawa Safety Council.
Vista Centre
Colleen Burn sits on the board of Vista Centre, a non-profit organization that helps individuals with acquired brain injuries.
Legal Community
In addition to supporting charitable and community organizations, Doucet McBride is also a proud member of the Ontario legal community.
We are active in the Ontario Bar Association, the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, the County of Carleton Law Association and the Association of French Speaking Jurists of Ontario.
Some of our lawyers volunteer their time assisting self-represented litigants through the Law Help Ontario program, run through Pro Bono Law Ontario. Started in June 2010, this program offers free summary legal advice to self-represented litigants at the Ottawa Courthouse.
Our lawyers and law clerks stay well informed of the latest developments in the law by regularly attending legal education conferences and programs sponsored by the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association, the County of Carleton Law Association, the Ottawa Construction Association and other organizations.
Several of our lawyers have lectured at the Law Society of Upper Canada Bar Association Course, and present at legal education conferences at programs sponsored by various organizations. By participating in such programs, our lawyers stay abreast of recent developments in the law and advance their knowledge, as well as that of their peers.
Laurie Tucker has served on the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association Board of Directors since 2004. She frequently chairs or presents papers at their conferences and writes for their quarterly publication, The Litigator.
Ian McBride is a Trustee of the County of Carleton Law Association and sits on the Association’s Executive Committee.
